Ray bradbury has an asteriod named in his honor (9766 Bradbury), along with a crater on the moon called "Dandelion Crater (named after his novel "Dandelion Wine"). Furthermore, Ray Bradbury was awarded the National Medal of Arts, presented by George W. Bush and Laura Bush.

I was reading the forums for interesting information about Ray Bradbury because I found the site so insufficient. However, what I did find caused me to laugh and shake my head at the way people react to someone who is famous or has done something 'inspiring'. Many of the people on the forums said things along the lines of "I am not worthy to write in the presence of such a great author" and "Mr. Bradbury, your godship. Let me bow unto you and serve your every wish and whim."
Okay, so the last one was made up but I find it really funny the way ornery people respond to famous ones. Geez, I know he's a great author and all but sending him gifts for Halloween? Does any of this strike you as odd? You'd think that Bradbury had a cult or something. I think that it's ridiculous how these people manage to create an inferiority complex out of a man they barely know exept for what he allows. These people should thank Ray Bradbury for his contribution to literature but, they need to stop kissing him, clean off their noses and get to work doing something great themselves instead of thinking they can never do it because all of the people to ever accomplish anything good were "oh so great and perfect and wonderful and talented and oh my gosh! We should all knit him sweaters!" Seriously. Some people can be such fanatics or just plain sheep at times. It's due time that they started thinking for themselves.
